Sunflower Twinkie Cake

Recently I had a potluck picnic to attend and didn't know what to bring because of the weather being so hot!  So I thought I would bring an easy dessert and came across this recipe for a sunflower cake made from twinkies.  It's super simple:  Make an 8 inch chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and then take chocolate chips and place them all on the top of the cake.   Then take your twinkies (unwrapped) and arrange them along the outside of the cake to make it look like the petals of a sunflower and that's it!!

Lego Theme Birthday Party

My twin boys were really into legos this year so I decided to have them a lego themed party.  At first I thought I would be able to find some party decorations online but I was wrong!  So I went to work and made my own. This is what I made:

I made lego minfigures from a coloring page I printed out from online.  I also made lego bricks using card stock ( primary colors).  The table runner is bubble wrap I got from target.  The banner is made from card stock and the font is from a font website I downloaded and then printed out.

Hamburger Cupcakes

I seen these cupcakes a few times on line an have been waiting for the right time to make them. The boys are having a Camping Day at School tomorrow an thought this would make the perfect treat an plus Memorial Day is right around the corner.

They are really easy to make all you have to do is : Make white and chocolate cupcakes. I didn't use liners just because I didn't want lines. After your cupcakes are cool cut them in half an use red and yellow icing ( ketchup and mustard) on the inside of the bun ( white cupcake ) and place your chocolate ( meat) cupcake in the middle an there you go your cupcake ......I mean hamburger!!!

Happy Memorial Day!! Pin It

Tissue Paper Flowers

Next Week at the boys school is Teacher Appreciation Week and the kids are asked to bring a flower to school for their teacher. So I was thinking that we could just pick a Tulip in the yard an give it to her but that's too simple... Why not make a flower an she can keep it forever. So I never made a flower before so I looked online at paper flowers and came across a tutorial on making ones out of tissue paper. I followed the directions ( super simple and easy) and this is what I came up with:

I also added a tag to the flowers " Thank you for helping me grow" Pin It

Star Wars Birthday School Treats

My boys are going to be turning 7 and they are ALL about Star Wars. So I made these Star Wars School Treats for their classmates.

I made the cookies with just a simple chocolate sugar cookie recipe or you could use a cookie mix. Then I rolled out my dough and cut them with a bell shape cookie cutter.

After I let them cool I took white vanilla frosting an a plain decorating tip. After decorating my cookies I made these tags for the treat bags:

I started out by making circles out of black card stock and scalloped scissors ( but I just turned them the other way to give them a sharp edging). Then I printed stormtroopers on office paper and cut them in a circle. After that I simply glued them together and Wrote on the back with a silver Sharpie.

To add a finishing touch I tied red wrapping ribbon around the bags an there you have it Darth Vader Cookies& Treat Bags.
